53. Meshes of the Afternoon (1943)

I first watched this film a couple of years ago, in broad daylight. All I could remember about it was the flower that can be seen in the very beginning.
Now I watched the film again, this time in the middle of the night and found it slightly unnerving. There's no graphic violence as it's more to do with the music and ambiance. There's nothing predictable about the plot and that's what kept me hanging on the edge of my seat.
